City launch request
A city launch request is a resident's expression of interest in Civic Informer reporting for their area.
A city launch request is a resident's expression of interest in Civic Informer reporting for their area. The current request flow uses a ZIP code and email address to match an area and provide launch-related communication. A request is not confirmation that an edition already exists, that an agency has partnered, or that a launch date is guaranteed.
What the request means
The current request page describes matching a resident to a city or, outside city limits, a county and state. It describes a confirmation message and notification when local reporting goes live. That area-matching process matters because a postal ZIP code is not necessarily a municipal boundary.
The request concerns access to future reporting. It does not submit an incident to an emergency agency or create a public-safety record about an event. The product's official-record methodology remains separate from resident interest.
Example
Hypothetical example: A resident enters a ZIP code associated with a nearby city but lives outside its incorporated boundary. The request confirmation identifies the county area rather than assuming the resident belongs to the city.
The confirmed area is the relevant request context. The ZIP alone should not be used to claim that the resident lives within the municipality or receives service from its police department. A launch request also does not establish a completed local deployment.
Common confusion
A community profile can already exist without an edition. A launch request asks about reporting availability; it does not turn the profile into an edition.
An agency inquiry or partnership is a different relationship. Resident demand does not constitute agency endorsement.
Current flow
Use the area and communication details shown in the actual confirmation, including available unsubscribe information. A confirmation establishes that interest was registered for the named area. A launch date, participating agency, or future feature is established only when Civic Informer separately confirms it.
