Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using civicinformer.com ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective when posted with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Description of Service
Civic Informer is a public safety data platform that aggregates, analyzes, and publishes publicly available crime and incident data from official government sources. The service includes daily reports, statistical analysis, interactive maps, email newsletters, and educational blog content.
The platform is free for community members. Civic Informer may offer separate paid services to public safety agencies and organizations, but access to the public-facing website, reports, and newsletters is provided at no cost.
Data Accuracy & Limitations
All data published on Civic Informer comes from publicly available government records. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, but we cannot guarantee that data is complete, timely, or error-free.
- Statistics represent reported incidents only, not all events that actually occurred
- Data may be delayed, incomplete, or reclassified by source agencies after initial publication
- Incident classifications are based on our standardized mapping system and may differ from official agency classifications
- Arrest data should be treated as a lower bound, not a complete count

Civic Informer is not a substitute for official law enforcement information. In an emergency, always call 911.
Acceptable Use
You may use Civic Informer for personal, non-commercial informational purposes. You may share and reference our reports with appropriate attribution.
You may not
- Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract data from the Site without prior written permission
- Misrepresent data published on Civic Informer or remove attribution when sharing
- Use data from the Site to harass, stalk, or target individuals
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site
Newsletter subscribers must provide a valid email address and may only subscribe themselves.
Intellectual Property
The Site's original content — including text, analysis, design, graphics, and code — is owned by OpSprocket LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Publicly sourced data (crime records, incident reports, government records) remains in the public domain. Our analysis, presentation, and commentary on that data is our original work.
You may share and reference our reports with attribution to Civic Informer. You may not reproduce substantial portions of the Site or its content without prior written permission.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any data, content, or information published on the Site.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OPSPROCKET LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE, RELIANCE ON ANY DATA OR CONTENT PUBLISHED ON THE SITE, OR ANY OTHER MATTER RELATED TO THE SITE.
This limitation applies regardless of whether the claim is based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OpSprocket LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Washington State.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
