Getting started with Civic Informer
Keep your CAD, RMS, or dispatch system. We set up the services you choose, guide your review, and handle technical upkeep.

Connect the records you already keep
We assess the CAD, RMS, or dispatch sources your agency can provide, confirm formats and fields, and arrange delivery for the agreed scope.
Ways to connect your records
Options Record sources - CAD
- RMS
- Dispatch records
- Public agency feed
- Open data site
Record formats - CSV
- XLSX
- HTML
- JSON
Delivery - Shared folder
- Storage bucket

- Public URL
We start with what your agency can provide, then assess formats, fields, and access to arrange a connection for the agreed scope.
Week two
We map your records, you review and approve
We map your fields to our categories, report layouts, and privacy protections. You confirm terminology, geography, and release rules.
We map your records
We match source labels to supported categories and format locations and dates for the services you choose. Counts, dates, and outcomes stay tied to your records.
You review
We prepare a private preview, a report draft, or a workspace. You check it against your records and your terminology.
You approve
We apply agreed changes. You approve the public launch or report, or confirm the internal workspace is ready.

Illustrative transformation from a source log to a report. All records are invented. Categories are expanded for readability; counts, dates, and recorded outcomes remain tied to the source rows. Week three
Invite staff to your workspace
We finish setup for the services you chose, keep records moving through the connection, and orient the staff who use the workspace.
Records keep updating
With the ongoing connection established, we process incoming records without staff preparing each update.
Bring in your team
Invite teammates and set each person’s workspace access.
Know where to begin
We walk your staff through the workspace and the tools they’ll use.
Illustrative workspace walkthrough on a loop, with sample data: a new user accepts an invitation, signs in, opens Team, and invites a teammate with a role.
Ask us about your records
Tell us what your system can export, and we’ll show you what your records can support and how we maintain them after launch.

Frequently asked questions
Have another question? Contact us at contact@civicinformer.com or fill out the form to get started.
Do we have to publish our records publicly?
No. Law Enforcement Reporting, Law Enforcement Operations, and Fire Performance can be scoped without a public site. Fire Reporting provides prepared reports within the agreed scope. Each uses records authorized for its purpose.
Will this work with our records system?
We start with the public sources or exports your system can provide. We assess the fields, format, and delivery options, then confirm what the records can support.
What happens if the source stops updating?
We monitor incoming data and investigate interruptions. Updates depend on source availability; reports identify the period their records cover.
How long does setup take, and what does it cost?
Timing and price depend on source access, the services selected, and the review needed. Your proposal sets out scope, responsibilities, timing, and price.
